Oliver Chukwujekwu Ezechi, MD, PhD, is a Director of Research at the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research Lagos and Professor of Maternal, Reproductive and Child Health at the Lead City University Ibadan, Nigeria. He has devoted his career to the management, and research in infectious diseases of poverty and women’s health, and currently Directs the Centre for Reproductive and Population Health at the institute. He pioneered the prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV programme of the Institute which has consistently achieved a rare MTCT rate of less than 1% in our environment using a public-private partnership. Over the years he has successfully assisted a number of public and private health facilities to establish PMTCT programmes and integrate reproductive health services into their HIV programme. Dr. Ezechi is actively involved in training and mentoring the next generation of health care workers and servers as an examiner to a number of Universities and the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria. He is the Chair of the Practice Guideline Committee of the Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Nigeria and a member of the Nigerian National HIV treatment Technical committee. He is currently Director and Nigerian Country lead for Emory Nigeria HIV Research Training Programme.
